Your psychological and physical clothing comfort are a pleasure and priority. How you feel about what you’re wearing directly influences your thoughts and behaviors (enclothed cognition), as well as those around you, and their perception of you. If you’re not feeling what you’re wearing, it’s not appropriate.
“Comfort is how your clothes feel on you and how they make you feel.”
The first step in feeling what you wear, is buying clothes that make you feel good, and knowing why. When shopping, a principle to keep in mind is “buy the need you want”, prioritizing your ‘why'- be it fit, comfort, quality, style and/or value. This reasoning minimizes waste in your wardrobe, makes getting dressed enjoyable, and saves you time and money long term. Every feel-good, look-good moment is an amortization of your clothing investment.
The next step in feeling what you’re wearing, is knowing what clothes feel good on you. It’s important to put on clothes that breathe, feel good against your skin, suit your body type and that allow movement. Feeling what you’re wearing will make you more relaxed, high-spirited, confident, and will show in your walk and talk. Don’t underestimate how much feeling your clothes matters to your self expression and the appropriateness of your style.
